Mac + Molly had some technical difficulties last week, but everything seems to be back to normal! To make up for some lost time, I promised an extra special, boozy cocktail. I saw my old Chicago train stop on the news yesterday morning covered in 19 inches of snow, so I figured I’d toast to my snowed-in friends in Chicago last night and make a Mexican hot chocolate with a little tequila!
Mexican Hot Chocolate with Tequila Recipe:
*Makes two 8 oz. servings
2 cups milk
1/4 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips (whichever you prefer)
1/2 cup dark chocolate
1/2 cup tequila
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Cocoa powder for topping
Start by getting your milk warmed in a small saucepan on medium-low heat.
While your milk is warming up, chop up your chocolate. I had a weak moment at Target recently and bought an entire bag of dark Ghirardelli chocolate. But hey, it’s coming in handy so no shame!
Once your milk gets a little bubbly, add your chocolate and keep on medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until melted.
Once melted, you can add your cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Stir to combine.
Pour 2 oz of tequila in each mug.
Add your hot chocolate mix to your tequila, stir and top with cocoa powder.
Sip and repeat!
