Hi, I’m Courtney! My friends all call me Court. I love to write and wanted a place to share my love for food, family, and recipes, so Court’s House is my way of doing that.
I’m originally from a very small town in West Michigan, and after having lived in Chicago and West Virginia, have since settled with my husband, our two daughters, and our two rescue dogs in Western Pennsylvania.
When we found out we were moving to PA, we bought our house quickly, after only a few weeks of hunting. Our lease was ending in West Virginia and my husband had just accepted a job. We were also about to leave the country for 3 months for his job. So instead of putting all of our things in storage, we decided to make a snap decision on a house. It wasn’t our dream house, but we decided to focus on our ‘Needs’ list rather than our ‘Wants’ list and we’re slowly turning it into a home that we are proud of.
I’ve been blogging since 2012 and in the past have shared easy recipes, fun cocktails, and stories about my dogs. I wanted to reintroduce this blog not only to share more quick and easy recipes, but to share our current home projects, and some parenting stories as a new mom. I’d love to hopefully remind others in the same phase of life that it’s okay to not have an Instagram-worthy house, that some projects take months longer than expected, and that some projects never get done at all.
So welcome to our home! It’s not always perfect, and sometimes it’s loud and chaotic. We’re happy and we’re busy, and I think we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.
