I’m not going to lie, the main reason I wanted to make this was because of a Burger King commercial. Hey, I’ll take inspiration wherever I can get it.
I actually made chicken parmesan (with Wheat Thins!) before so for the detailed recipe, and pictures, you can see my Chicken Parmesan Recipe. For this particular meal, I stuck with Italian style breadcrumbs, rather than the Wheat Thins. I also did not finish the chicken off in the sauce in the oven, because I like a crispy sandwich.
Ingredients:
3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded 1/4 – 1/2 inch thick)
1/2 cup white flour
1 egg
1/2 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
Olive oil
1 batch of marinara sauce (you could use canned if you want)
3/4 cup shredded cheese (I used an Italian blend of provolone, mozzarella and parmesan)
Soft Kaiser rolls (1 Tbsp. butter if you decide to toast them)
After you’ve dredged your chicken in flour and egg, coat with breadcrumbs and place in a hot skillet with about 1/2-inch of olive oil.
Cook on each side for 5 minutes, until golden brown.
Place shredded cheese on top of each chicken breast and let melt.
While melting, you can toast your buns in some melted butter.
I made my sandwich first and then added the sauce to the top.
I had some leftover spaghetti noodles from earlier in the week. So for leftovers, I heated this up with some pasta, instead of a sandwich. It really holds up better if you reheat the chicken in the oven instead of the microwave (I did about 325-degrees until the cheese was melted and it was warm all the way through).
Pretty great post. I simply stumbled upon your weblog and wished to say that I have truly enjoyed surfing around your weblog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing for your feed and I hope you write again very soon!
1. I laughed so hard over your first sentence ahha I read it to Jack and I giggled some more. 2. I’ve never once had the craving for a chicken parm sandwhich until seeing these photos of a butter bun, crispy chicken and so much cheese. MAKE ME FOODZ WHEN I VISIT. just kidding. :)
