Cinnamon Sugar Oyster Crackers

I made the savory version of this snack a while ago and brought it to a Superbowl party at my friend Caitlin’s house. Sometime throughout the game the dish spilled all over the floor and the dogs (yes, Molly was invited!) were licking the carpet for hours. I even caught Caitlin’s beagle, Lucy, licking the vacuum cleaner after the cleanup. Yeah, it was that good.

I wanted to make a sweet version so that I had two really simple options if I am ever in a bind when attending a bring-a-dish party. This is just as easy as the savory version and has only 4 ingredients. You really have no excuse to bring Lofthouse cookies or a bag of chips, because you “didn’t have time”, ever again!

Cinnamon Sugar Oyster Crackers Recipe:

8 Tbsp. unsalted butter (1 stick)
1 cup white sugar
2 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 bag oyster crackers (10 oz.)

Preheat your oven to 250-degrees.

Melt the butter either in the microwave or on the stove and then pour over oyster crackers in a large bowl, stirring to coat evenly.

Add the sugar and cinnamon to another small bowl and stir until combined.

Pour the cinnamon sugar mixture over the butter-coated crackers and stir until they are evenly coated. You could also pop a lid on your bowl, if available, and shake until they are coated.

Bake for 30 minutes, until crispy. Let cool completely before eating or storing them.

  • Hi Courtney,

I have a savory recipe using a box of regular size saltine crackers. Would you double the ingredients or use 1 1/2 using these saltines if making the sweet version?

    • Hi Cinderella, great question! I would make the decision based on how much I wanted to make. If I were feeding a crowd, I’d go ahead and make a whole box of saltines but double the ingredients for the coating. I think that might make a bit of extra topping, but with the saltines being bigger, I don’t see that being a problem. If you don’t need to make as much, I think you’re right about just making 10 oz of the saltine crackers (1 1/2 box) and use the amount of ingredients listed here. Let me know which you decide and how it turns out!

  • Oh yummm!! I’m addicted to the Premium Mini saltine crackers – for some reason they’re out of the box buttery. I am going to give this a try utilizing those rather than oyster crackers. Thanks for sharing!!

    • Hi Lisa, thank you for sharing your favorite crackers – I will have to check them out :) Let me know how yours turn out using those!

    • Please share how this turned out using the small saltine crackers. I want to make them for a Christmas party next week.

    • Hi Paula, it makes 1 full 10-oz. bag of oyster crackers. If you need more than that, you can use 2 bags of crackers and double the butter, cinnamon and sugar :)

  • I had these as a Weight Watchers snack. All you do is substitute the butter for I can’t believe it’s not butter spray, and use Splenda instead of Sugar. The way I do it I just dump the crackers on a cookie, sheet spray with the ICBINB till all are coated, coat with Splenda & cinnamon & bake at 250 for 10-15 min. Watch them very carefully & turn them or they will burn! Still a great snack with less calories!!

    • Hi Stacey! What a great idea – Love that you made these healthier and I am so glad to hear they still turned out tasty :) Thank you for sharing!
