Everyone I know learns pretty quickly that I love mac and cheese. That usually means when someone stumbles across a delicious, cheesy recipe – they send it my way! I could not be more grateful because it gives me tons of good ideas. This tasty, little idea came from the girls at work. I actually had two separate people (thanks Caitlin and Katie!) send me pictures of some mac and cheese pizza in the same day. So of COURSE I had to give it a shot.
Mac and Cheese Ingredients:
12 oz. cooked elbow macaroni
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. flour
2 cups milk
8 oz. sharp cheddar – cubed or shredded
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
Pizza Ingredients:
Pre-made pizza crust
7 oz. summer sausage or keilbasa – sliced
4 oz. sharp cheddar – shredded
2 Tbsp. butter – melted
1/4 cup French’s onions
First I whipped up a batch of my Homemade Mac and Cheese <- click for the recipe!
While the pasta is boiling, pre-heat your oven to 375-degrees and slice and cook your sausage until brown and slightly crispy (I obviously like to multi-task!)
When your oven is pre-heated and while your sausage is browning, place your crust on a tin-foiled and greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes to give it a little crisp.
After 10 minutes, take your crust out and get ready to assemble!
Place a decent layer of mac and cheese along the entire surface of the crust. I used white cheddar for my sauce, feel free to try your favorite cheese!
Place the cooked sausage on top.
Mix your melted butter and French’s onions in a dish.
Top the pizza with the additional shredded cheddar cheese then with the butter-coated French’s onions.
Bake for 15 minutes at 375-degrees.
What is the craziest pizza you’ve ever eaten?
I like pizza but the taste is too delicious for my mouth.
