I love white pizzas. Absolutely love and adore them. And I especially love white pizzas that use an actual Alfredo sauce for the sauce! I made this shrimp Alfredo white pizza this past weekend and it was a hit. I actually used Pillsbury refrigerated pizza crust and had this whipped up in less than a half hour. The trick is the pre-made dough and my favorite easy ingredient: frozen pre-cooked shrimp.
15-20 medium size shrimp
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic
1 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
8 oz. mozzarella cheese
Pizza crust
Red pepper flakes
I actually started by pre-cooking my dough. I got it all rolled out onto my pan and then popped it in my pre-heated oven for about 5 minutes just to get it a little golden in the middle and not so doughy. Then I set it aside and got started on my sauce.
In a medium pan, I melted 2 tablespoons of butter and then sautéed some garlic on medium-low heat until it smelled delicious.
Next, I added 1 cup of heavy cream and turned the heat up to medium-high.
I whisked it until it started to thicken and then added my parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.
I let it thicken a little further and then added my salt and black pepper and then removed it from the heat.
Next, I took the tails off my thawed shrimp and tossed them with some salt and pepper as well.
Time to build the pizza! I took the Alfredo sauce and coated the entire pizza crust.
I topped that with the shrimp, some more chopped parsley, and mozzarella cheese that I crumbled to cover the entire top of the pizza.
I baked it at 425-degrees for 15 minutes, until the top was golden and everything was bubbly. The Alfredo sauce is definitely creamier than pizza sauce, so you’ll want to cook this on a pan that has raised sides. After it’s cooked, let it cool for about 5 minutes or it will be too runny to slice and serve.
After it’s cooled a bit, go ahead and do that slicing and serving!
