If you’ve been following my recipes for a while, you may notice a change to my blog. I’ve had a lot of changes in my life in the past 3 years and I felt that it was time for my blog to reflect it. So, welcome to Court’s House!
Where have you been?
I will admit I lost interest in cooking for quite a while. I am going to be uncomfortably honest and share that my husband and I dealt with infertility for 1.5 years and I just didn’t feel like being in the kitchen anymore. I didn’t feel like doing much, honestly.
I ended up trying a gluten and dairy free diet, hoping to make a difference. If you’ve ever made any of my recipes, you know gluten and dairy were always key ingredients and cutting them out was hard. Cooking wasn’t fun anymore. Food wasn’t something I thought about anymore. I’m disappointed that I didn’t push through and come up with some healthy recipes to share, but I couldn’t think of anything outside of getting pregnant. I had to walk away from a lot of things in my life (including a lot of socializing with friends, I’m sorry) and just focus on trying to be happy one day at a time.
With some fertility help and a lot of hope, we finally got pregnant in November of 2018. I had a wonderful pregnancy and our baby girl was born in July of 2019. She’s perfect and we are so happy. I am so grateful that my infertility story has a happy ending. I hope every day for those of you struggling with this. Nobody should have to go through it.
So, What is Court’s House?
Court’s House is the new me. I’m happy and re-focused and am finally getting back into doing things that I love. In the past 3 years we moved to a new state, bought a house, had our beautiful baby girl, and so much more.
I wanted to start this new blog as a way to share our projects, both in and out of the kitchen, and to hopefully remind others in the same phase of life that it’s okay to not have an Instagram-perfect home. That it’s okay if some goals take months longer than expected (or 1.5 years of trying!) And that it’s okay if some projects never get done at all. We’re happy, we’re busy, and I think we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.
